“ Robin“

 

MXX 280  was delivered in January 1953 and started service on route 213 from Norbiton Garage. In June 1957 she headed to Aldenham for a overhaul, later that month moving on to West Green Garage, then moving onto Leyton Garage for Route 236.

 

Robin went back to Aldenham for overhaul in May 1961, before heading to Muswell Hill Garage after overhaul, but within months was transferred to Southall Garage to work on route 211, until going into store at Hanwell Garage in October 1964.                              

 

In January 1965 she moved to Aldenham, and while there she was converted so that she could be worked as a One Man Operated bus.  Later that month she was transferred to Hounslow Garage, mainly for use on Route 211. August 1966 saw her back at Aldenham for a repaint and she returned to Hounslow Garage were she stayed until November 1971 then it was back to Aldenham for her last overhaul.

 

She stayed there as Aldenhams RF works float,until April 1973. Following her protracted overhaul she moved onto Croydon until November 1974. In January 1975 she moved to Kingston her last garage prior to withdrawal in January 1978.

 

In February 1978 she was bought by Mr D Simmons, Walton - on - Thames (Country Bus & Coach Preservation Group), and ten years later passed to P. Graves, of Watford, who commenced her restoration.
